In "Doctor Zhivago", Viktor Komarovsky is a lawyer from Moscow. He is the cause of many unhappy moments in the story, including Yuri's father's death and the loss of Lara's innocence. Wealthy, powerful, cold-blooded, and self-assured, his only weakness is Lara, whom he protects long after their relationship is over. Viktor Komarovsky is Lara's father's lawyer, her mother's sometimes lover, and Lara's lover.

Komarovsky is a example of a person who is not a good human being. The old lawyer is pretty much a great example of everything good people find wrong with the world. For starters, it totally appears that this guy isn't going to be a role model the moment he starts ogling his friend's daughter (Lara). Komarovsky's lust is made clear on the screen and it doesn't make him any kind of a nice man. He is portrayed here by Rod Steiger in this 1965 film adaptation.

Komarovsky is pretty much the opposite of Yuri Zhivago. When the Russian Revolution breaks out, Komarovsky makes sure to have powerful friends on both sides of the conflict. He rises up the social ladder and constantly profits from not taking sides. He is always slithering his way into people's good graces.

Overall the film details the life of a Russian doctor and poet who, although married to another, falls in love with a political activist's wife. The doctor and others will experience great hardships during World War I and then the October Revolution.
