No, Oprah paid nothing but Pontiac would not have made the cars available but for Oprah; besides the value of the “giveaway” was deducted as a cost of doing business expense under advertising and promotion by Pontiac. Neither Oprah nor Pontiac were engaging in philanthropy. They both understood the value of good marketing.
