Archibald Alexander Leach was born January 18, 1904. He originally wanted to be called Cary Lockwood, however his studio did not like the sound of Cary Lockwood, so they decided on the name we all know: Cary Grant. He agreed with this since the initials CG worked for Clark Gable and Gary Cooper.
