Moon River. 'Moon River' is a song composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. It was originally performed by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The song also won the 1962 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

It was also a big hit for Andy Williams who released his version and became his signature song and whose version is the one most people know.

The opening verse:

Beautiful song. Well worth an award. My great Aunt Ethel who died in 1965 learnt to play this music in her later years before she died,she was a pianist as most people were in those days and many a tear was shed by her over its lovely lyrics. I suspect she was thinking back to her days when she was happy with her husband who passed 1952 . She never forgot him.

lady draggon, this is done here because they're lyrics and just like a poem, they're separated similar to stanzas in poetry! Sometimes they're separated ìnto verses and then you'll have the chorus, which is often separated from the verses by two spaces. It's done this way to show one where to pause, etc. It's pretty common in music with lyrics and in most poetry! I'm an English professor and I've studied and taught many different types of poems and found It's quite common and that different types of poetry requires different types of spacing, just like music!
