Turkish messengers being given an audience with Vlad Dracula were told to remove their turbans in his presence. The messengers refused to remove their head gear in accordance with their ancient customs.Vlad saying that he wanted to help strengthen their custom had the turbans nailed to their heads so that the couldn't be removed. Vlad had a hatred of the Turks because he and his brother had been held hostage by them as boys.
