I don't think the Pan-American Highway should count because it has a gap, the Darian Gap.

It doesn't matter. The total miles of what is considered the highway is the greatest. They don't ask which is the longest "continuous" or "uninterrupted" highway.

If it has a "gap" it is not continuous - so it does not qualify. The answer does not state what distance is continuous between the "gap" so the answer is incomplete. I call foul Quiz Club!

There is still a serious doubt that with the gap it is a highway, and quite frankly I agree with the latter. there are multiple roads in the world called the M1 or N2 are they all the same highway, of coarse not as there is a gap between all of them ! Why is the Pan -American highway different?
