Which two countries do the Aleutian Islands belong to?

The Aleutian Islands are a chain of islands belonging to the USA and Russia. There are a total of 14 large volcanic islands and 55 smaller ones. The Islands have a population of 8,163 (as of 2000), and more than half of that, (4,283) make up the largest settlement of Unalaska. The Islands are bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea.

Was France a choice in the three other options meant to distract from Russia? Since 43% chose them, it certainly worked out that way.

The aleutians are an extension off of Alaska. I know the United States purchased Alaska from Russia from school. To me it made the most sense that it was shared by the US and Russia.

Ok - I answered a similar quiz just today and it said the Aleutians were Alaska territories. No mention of Russia although they are near both countries. I checked Google and they are owned by both. Gotta get it right, authors and question checkers.
