The Interstate I-275 loop around Cincinnati Ohio, crosses the Ohio River into Kentucky, and on its west side it passes through a few miles of Indiana. The loop was completed in 1963 and is still functioning today. This is the only loop around a U.S. city that touches 3 states. The loop is 83.71 miles long making it the longest interstate loop in the U.S. The loop was originally signed (in Ohio) as the Cincinnati By-Pass and officially known as the Donald H Rolf Circle Freeway. In 2011 Kentucky named their part of the loop the Ronald Reagan Highway. Interstate loops around major cities make it possible for interstate trucks to keep moving and not get stuck in city traffic. Loops can also make it much faster for locals to travel to other parts of the city.
