What U.S. state has never adopted an official state song?

Forty-nine of the fifty U.S. states that make up the United States of America have one or more state songs, which were selected by each state legislature, and/or state governor, as a symbol for that particular U.S. state. New Jersey does not have an official state song. It is the only state without an official song. New Jersey's Unofficial State Song "I'm From New Jersey," written by Red Mascara passed both Legislative Houses in 1972. However, it was not signed into law by the Governor. It remains a very popular song within New Jersey.

Thank goodness they never made "I'm From New Jersey" the state song. It's a terrible song. It's maudlin and reeks of mediocrity. New Jersey is anything but that. The song ignores all the best of one of the original 13 colonies and the third state in the union, the Garden State. New Jersey has some of the best in the country. It ranks third for its school system and is filled with natural beauty. There are the Pine Barrens, the gorgeous Delaware Water Gap, High Point, and some of the best beaches anywhere. This song was written by someone with a jaundiced view who resorts to writing about passing trends and cliches. It should never again be considered for state song. New Jersey, you deserve better!

That was easy, since I was officially born there. My Mother & Father were both in the occupation of Japan after WWII. Mom came back on a boat. I had to do a report on the State I was born in. My 4th Grade Teacher lacked a "sense of humor" (she was a nun and had none). I told her it was: " Of We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder" Dad was in the brand new USAF (established 1948).

Unbelievable! The State that gave America Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, and Jon Bon Jovi doesn't have a State Song!? "My Way" or "Atlantic City" would work just fine for them, wouldn't it?
