Edward "Ned" Wertimer (October 1923 – January 2013) was an American actor. He was best known for his role as Ralph Hart, the doorman on the TV sitcom "The Jeffersons". Wertimer played Ralph the doorman on all 11 seasons of "The Jeffersons" in the 1970s and 1980s.

Besides Wertimer, Sherman Hemsley played the main character on the show; he was the abrasive George Jefferson. In the series, Isabel Sanford played Hemsley's wife Louise "Weezy" Jefferson.

In addition to "The Jeffersons", Wertimer appeared on TV shows such as "Mork & Mindy", "Happy Days", and "Starsky and Hutch". In 2007, he starred on an episode of "The Practice". That same year, he also was a pirate in the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End". Of all the roles he performed during his career, Ned Wertimer said, "I loved being Ralph Hart on "The Jeffersons" the most".

Weird question. The doorman's name was Ralph. His name for the building was not Ralph. It was probably 'My Damn Job.'

That was a great show. It was always well written and well played. CBS cancelled it in the mid 1980s because they seemed to be tired of it. Two of the producers moved to do "Married with Children"-great on its own but as far removed from "The Jeffersons" as one could imagine. Ned Wertimer did a lot of other TV work but he always fit into the "Jeffersons" ensemble.
