"Situation" is a 1982 single by British synth-pop band Yazoo. The song was released in the UK as the B-side to Yazoo's debut single "Only You", which went to number two on the UK singles chart. Released as a single in North America, the song peaked at number 73 on the "Billboard" Hot 100 chart in the US, and hit the top 40 in Canadian charts, peaking at number 31. In late-summer 1982 it became Yazoo's first song to top the "Billboard" Hot Dance Club Play chart, remaining at number one on this chart for four weeks. It also crossed over to the Black Singles chart, peaking at number 31.

Yazoo (known as Yaz in North America) were from Basildon, Essex, formed in late 1981 by former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke (keyboards) and Alison Moyet (vocals).[ The pair released two albums, "Upstairs at Eric's" and "You and Me Both". Yazoo played a key role in shaping the emerging genre of synth-pop, particularly in the mid-1980s house music scene. The duo split in May 1983, and later reunited for a tour in 2008.

"Upstairs at Eric's" produced two hit singles. "Only You" was released in the UK in March 1982 and rose to number two on the UK singles chart. "Don't Go" was released in July 1982 as the second single in the UK and reached the top three of the UK charts.
