What was the first trademarked product?

Back in the 19th century the Bass & Co Brewery used a Red Triangle logo for their pale ale and in 1876 this logo went on the become Britain's first trademark and as far as we could find, the world's first trademark.

Bass took control of a number of other large breweries in the early 20th century, and in the 1960s merged with Charrington United Breweries to become the largest UK brewing company, Bass Charrington.

None of them are trademarked PRODUCTS. They are companies that have products with trademarks. As there are no PRODUCTS listed, there are no correct options. I want my point back.

I agree with most of the comments listed. There are no products listed so I guessed incorrectly! History states that whale oil was the first product trademarked!

BTW a brewery is not a product. Bass ale most definitely is a product. Try to be more precise. (The trademark is actually on the Bass 🔺️ logo).

Questionable. Wikipedia states that the first trademark system was passed into law in France in 1857. The question should be reworded to specify the first British trademark.
