What was the original color of Dorothy's slippers in the novel "The Wizard of Oz"?

First, to answer this question, you must have read the book. While most of us probably have seen this iconic film with its ruby slippers, the original story featured silver slippers. Since color films were new, costume designers decided that silver was too plain a color and made them ruby red instead, utilizing the new technology to create greater impact.

No the picture actually did NOT give away the answer. The picture shows a light pink high heel with diamond and silver jewel accents. If the picture was actually giving the answer away, there would be no heel on the shoes (slippers do not have heels) and the slipper would have been all silver and not light pink as in the picture.

Not tricky at all. It's a children's book. If you read it, then you knew the answer. Also if you saw The Wiz Dorothy is wearing silver slippers ( shoes)
