When Tina Turner was born in November 1939 in Brownsville, Tennessee, she was named Anna Mae Bullock. She is now recognized as an American-born Swiss singer, songwriter, and actress. Widely referred to as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", she rose to prominence as the lead singer of the "Ike & Tina Turner Revue". This was done before she launched a successful career as a solo performer in 1976. The year that she and Ike disbanded.

Turner began her career with "Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm" in 1957. Under the name Little Ann, she appeared on her first record "Boxtop" (1958). In 1960, she was introduced as Tina Turner with the hit duet single "A Fool in Love". The duo of Ike & Tina Turner became "one of the most formidable live music acts in history".

In a career that spanned 5 decades. Tina found success in creating and performing songs in rhythm-and-blues, soul and rock genres. In 2009, she officially retired from performing. She subsequently wrote the books, "My Love Story" (2018) as well as the self-help book "Happiness Becomes You: A Guide to Changing Your Life for Good" (2020, written with Taro Gold and Regula Curti). She also came out of retirement in July 2020 to collaborate with Norwegian record producer Kygo (Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll) on a remix of "What's Love Got to Do with It". With the song's release, she became the first artist to have a top 40 hit in 7 consecutive decades in the UK.

In 2021, she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist.
