When did the first Roman Catholic president take office in the USA?
John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy (May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963) served as the 35th President of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. To date, Kennedy has been the only Roman Catholic president.

In New Zealand, nobody would care or know what our Prime Ministers religion was or is.

Kennedy did not TAKE OFFICE in 1963, he took office in 1961. He HELD office until his assassination in 1963.

guastella p, suggest you study up on the history of your country a bit more as most of the American founding fathers were more deists than Christian. That is likely due to the time period as there wasn't the scientific knowledge to understand the natural explanations for the world and the lack of a need to believe in any sort of "god". Look up some of Jefferson's quotes on Christianity. Also, what exactly is a "moslem"?
Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.
-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper, February 10, 1814

John W Shreve, And that's part of the reason why he was defeated. Even when JFK ran there was still some anti-RC sentiment. And I saw it among some so-called evangelical non-RC Christians. Remarkable how the times have changed. Now, both groups are marching lockstep together on some issues!

Jaminator, I've often wondered when he had his Damascus experience. It possibly wasn't too long ago in view of his braggadocio boasts about groping. Ah! Maybe it occurred when he realized he'd won the election. All the polls pointed to an HC win and they were correct. The polls don't factor for the electoral college.

Jaminator, but more evangelicals and other "Christians " are praising him more than any other president, to the point of saying he was sent by God.
