When was John F. Kennedy assassinated?

John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated while traveling through Dallas, Texas, in an open-top convertible. It happened on the 22nd of November, 1963.

Jackie Kennedy rarely accompanied her husband on political outings, but she was beside him on that tragic day.

Note from history: "Sitting in a convertible, the Kennedys waved at the large and enthusiastic crowds gathered along the parade route. At 12:30 p.m., Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly fired three shots from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository Building. President Kennedy was fatally wounded."

The 35th President of the U.S. was pronounced dead 30 minutes later at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital. He was only 46.

November 25 was declared a day of national mourning for the slain president.

People weren't as ignorant back then and and whoever was president, that person was everyone's President and every good America backed that person 100%! 11/22/63 A book by Stephen King with that date as the title imagines what it might be like if someone could go back in time and stop Oswald from killing Kennedy. Fascinating how many other horrible events might never have happened. RFK might not have been shot. MLK might not have been shot. Malcolm X might not have been shot. Interesting premise. Good story. 850 pages. Not short. Worth reading. Just imagine how different the world might be, had JFK not been assassinated.

I am Canadian and also vividly remember. JFK was a Catholic president so we admired him. Mother Superior was supervising us kids until our school bus arrived. I was at the back of the classroom when she told us. We were 13 and cried with the nun unabashedly.

It was a day I will never forget. I was in a college classroom. A young man came in and spoke quietly to the instructor . The instructor looked up at us with tears in his eyes and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, our President is dead. Class dismissed." We students felt like all the hope had just drained out of the world.

If you're ever in Dallas, I highly recommend going to the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealy Plaza. A fully comprehensive examination of every aspect of that tragic event. You can also visit the Grassy Knoll, and there is a lovely Memorial Chapel there, as well
