When was the first tea-bag patent?
The first tea bags were hand-sewn fabric bags; tea bag patents date as early as 1903. First appearing commercially around 1904, tea bags were successfully marketed by the tea and coffee shop merchant Thomas Sullivan from New York, who shipped his tea bags around the world. The loose tea was intended to be removed from the sample bags by customers, but they found it easier to brew the tea with the tea still enclosed in the porous bags.

Even though I picked the wrong one, I knew tea bag card making was done in Victorian days. Each tea bag was placed in a little paper sack /cover the Victorian ladies would make flowers and made them into cards.

My family didn't switch over to the bags very soon. I never did like straining the tea through my teeth.

Wow, I never knew that. I remember, as a kid, our family used loose tea leaves, with teapots, strainers, well into the 70's!! I'm a coffee drinker.

billyboy915, I didn't know there was a rule that you had to say Q&A instead of Q&E. Personally if I was to make that comment I would use Q&E because the E stands for Explanation since the narrative is more like an explanation than an answer since the answer is given immediately after the question. Both seem to be correct so I see no reason for your rude criticism of Kirk Tanaka.
