Polar bears' natural habitat is the whole Arctic region. They prefer to spend their time on ice and in the water, hunting seals in leads (openings in the ice). Speaking about their citizenship, polar bears can be met in the territory of 5 countries: the USA, Canada, the Russian Federation, Greenland and Norway. Polar Bears dwell only in the Arctic areas around the North Pole; you can't meet one in Antarctica, which surrounds the South Pole. Actually, the word "arctic" comes from the Greek word for "bear", and Antarctic means "opposite of the Arctic".
