Where in the body is the axilla?
The axilla (also, armpit, underarm or oxter) is the area on the human body directly under the joint where the arm connects to the shoulder. It also provides the underarm sweat gland.
In humans, the formation of body odor happens mostly in the axillary region. These odorant substances serve as pheromones which play a role related to mating. The underarm regions seem more important than the genital region for body odor which may be related to human bipedalism.

I had never heard it called anything but the armpit lol..I hate that smell so I try to stay clean there.. actually I don't get that odor

Don't get a lot of repeat questions, but I had this last week. I believe Axe deodorant derives its name from axilla.

Underarms do not omit an odor. It is when the moisture is introduced to the bacteria that lives in warm, dark places such as the armpit, that together, produce the odor.
