If you take a stroll down Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida, you’ll be walking down the longest continuous sidewalk in the United States.

Bayshore Boulevard is a waterfront road on Hillsborough Bay in South Tampa, Florida. Located south of “downtown”, the scenic waterfront walkway is 10 feet (3.0 m) wide and stretches for 4.5 miles (7.2 km) along Hillsborough Bay. It starts at Columbus Statue Park and ends at Gandy Boulevard.

As can be expected, the sidewalk is widely used for recreation and exercise. Besides incredible views of the bay and Tampa skyline, the sidewalk also provides amenities such as benches, a water fountain, workout stations, and bicycle parking. Bayshore Boulevard Greenway is a favorite for runners, and bikers can enjoy an adjacent three-mile-long bike lane which runs alongside.

Walking end to end may take about an hour and a half, but you’ll be treated to serene views of the bay and some of Tampa’s most prestigious and beautiful homes, many of which are listed on the National Historic Register, in Old Hyde Park.

*The longest continuous sidewalk in the world is the Rambla of Montevideo, which is over 13.7 miles (22.2 km) long. It borders the entire coast of Montevideo, Uruguay, along the Río de la Plata.
