Pulpit Rock or Preikestolen is the most famous rock formation in Ryfylke, Norway, towering 604m (1,982 ft) over the Lysefjord.

Considered one of the most spectacular views in the world, by Lonely Planet, the Pulpit Rock plateau is approximately 25 square meters and was originally called Hyvlatånnå (planed tooth). Tourists can hike the 7.6 km (4.7 mi), between April and October. The ascent is 350 m and takes between 4-5 hours. The less ambitious can take a car-ferry or see it from below from a sightseeing boat.

The rock formation was created about 10,000 years ago during the ice age.
