The Eshima Ohashi Bridge is a rigid-frame bridge in Japan that connects the cities of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture and Sakaiminato, Tottori Prefecture over Lake Nakaumi. The two-lane concrete road bridge stretches 1.7 kilometers (just over 1 mile) and has a width of 11.3 meters making it the largest rigid-frame bridge in Japan. The height of the bridge is 44.7 meters. Its slope has a gradient of 6.1% on one side and 5.1 % on the other. The bridge was built with this slope so ships can pass underneath with ease. Construction began on the bridge in 1997 and ended in 2004.
