Where was British Prime Minister Boris Johnson born?
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Minister for the Union and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016.
Johnson was born in New York City to middle-class English parents and educated at Eton College. He read Classics at Balliol College, Oxford, where he was elected President of the Oxford Union in 1986.
He began his career in journalism at 'The Times' newspaper but was terminated for falsifying a quotation. He then decided to go into politics. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.
Johnson began appearing on a variety of television shows, beginning in 1998. His bumbling demeanor and occasionally irreverent remarks made him a perennial favorite on British talk shows.
Johnson’s political rise was threatened on a number of scandals. He was forced to apologize to the city of Liverpool after the publication of an insensitive editorial in 'The Spectator'. Johnson was also involved in numerous sex scandals and unconventional remarks.
In his address to the British people late on January 31, 2020, as the U.K. formally withdrew from the European Union, Johnson said, "This is the moment when the dawn breaks and the curtain goes up on a new act in our great national drama."
