Marty Robbins not only was a talented singer, he was also a NASCAR driver as well. Robbins raced in both Buick and Dodge NASCAR vehicles for a period of 13 years. In 1967, Robbins played himself in the racing film "Hell on Wheels".

Robbins' first race was in 1966. Because of his success as a singer, he was able to finance his wealth into this other passion. He made it a point to race at the major speedways annually such as the Talladega 500 and the Daytona 500. Robbins had 6 top 10 finishes and was involved in bad wrecks during the 1970s.
