Between 1964 and 1985, Wilson appeared as Whipple in more than 500 commercials for Charmin Paper Company (originally Hoberg Paper Company of Green Bay, WI). Playing this role allowed Wilson the luxury of working only a few days per year, while earning an annual salary of $300,000. In the year 2000, the Charmin Paper Company presented Wilson (Mr. Whipple) with a lifetime achievement award.

After he received this award, Wilson said, " I am deeply honored to receive this award. To be recognized for all my years of work, to have people believe in our product and see its importance, and to bring fun and laughter, is truly very special."

I immediately remembered his face but was so surprised that I remembered his name. That's the 3rd name in a row that I've remembered this morning & I'm terrible at remembering names. Yeah for me, there may be hope for my old brain yet. Hahaha!
