John Allen Amos Jr, is an African American actor whose career spans four decades. He is known for his roles as the tough disciplinarian father on CBS sitcom, Good Times. Mr. Amos has had roles in other television sitcoms such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Maude and The West Wing, to name a few. Along with television, Mr Amos has appeared in films such as Coming to America, where once again he portrayed the role of a loving and protective father. Besides acting, Mr. Amos played college and professional American football. Mr. Amos attended Colorado State University. In 1964, he signed a free agent contract with the American Football League's Denver Broncos. Later in 1967, he signed a free agent contract with American Football League's Kansas City Chiefs.
