Ciarán Hinds (b. February 1953) is an Irish actor. He is a person who has performed TV roles that include Julius Caesar in the HBO series "Rome" released in 2005–2007 created by John Milius, William J. MacDonald, and Bruno Heller and the character Mance Rayder in the HBO 2011–2019 series "Game of Thrones".

Hinds was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He began his traing to become a professional perform in Irish dance with Patricia Mulholland while attending Holy Family Primary school. He went on to perform in stage plays at St. Malachy's College, an all-boy's high school. He then decided to study law at Queen's University; he soon found however the acting bug and left for London to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (graduated, 1975).

In 1981, Ciarán made his film debut in "Excalibur", which also starred Helen Mirren, Patrick Stewart, and fellow Irishmen Liam Neeson and Gabriel Byme. Ciarán has gone on to make many more films. They include: "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover" (1989), "The Sum of All Fears" (2002), "Road to Perdition" (2002), "Munich" (2005), "Magot at the Wedding" (2007), "There Will Be Blood" (2007), "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (2011), "Silence" (2016), "First Man" (2018), and "Belfast" (2021). He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the last of these films.
