The amicable actress who played photographer Cricket Blake on the ABC 1959 to 1963 U.S. television detective drama "Hawaiian Eye" was Connie Stevens. She used her job and association with partners and private detectives who investigated mysteries and protected clients to help them with their efforts. She did these things in conjunction with her other job as a singer at the bar of the Hawaiian Village hotel and nightclub. This actual hotel was built by Henry J. Kaiser in 1958 and became the Hilton Hawaiian Village in the 1970s.
During the TV series, the characters included the dapper Anthony Eisley played by Tracey Steele. He was the head of the Hawaiian Eye detective agency. Robert Conrad played Tom Lopaka, the hot-headed detective partner in the agency. Kazio Kim played Poncie Ponce a local Hawaiian cab driver who had his ear to the ground to help out his detective friends. Connie Stevens as the sexy Cricket Blake was specifically asked to be a royal receptionist and photographer for the active detective agency.
This series was a success with TV audiences as Hawaii had just obtained U.S. statehood in 1959. The show's audience was able to get a glimpse of the lush tropical island when tuning in to watch "Hawaiian Eye".
