Mario Buatta (October 1935 – October 2018) was an American interior decorator. He was a popular person and well known as the "Prince of Chintz" for his use of lush floral prints. He was also called the "King of Clutter" since he was known to incorporate velvets, tassels, and other traditional elements into his work. He had a flamboyant aesthetic where he liked to mix different shapes and patterns, complex furnishings, dynamic wallpapers, and many ornate objects. Buatta was greatly influenced by English interior design, especially the Regency period; he was known for rooms that evoked the English country house.

Buatta was unusual in the interior design profession. He worked almost alone, and described himself as "married to his business". He was a mainstay of the Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse and from 1977 to 1991; he chaired 'The Winter Show', greatly increasing its prominence as an antiques and design venue.

Buatta lived in a townhouse in Manhattan, NY and also owned the 1845 William H. Mason house in Thompson Hill, Connecticut. He died in New York City on October 15, 2018; he was 82 years old.
