Which Batman villain was created for the 1966-1968 U.S. TV series and did not appear in comic books before the TV show aired?
On the TV series "Batman", like many other villains, Egghead (Edgar Heed) was created specifically for the 1966 "Batman" TV series. Some other wrongdoers were: King Tut, Shame, The Siren, Chandell, the Bookworm, and Louie the Lilac. Egghead would go on to be introduced in comic books after he found major success as a villain on TV.
Egghead as the fictional character created for the 1960s television series was played by film star Vincent Price. It is a character that was identifiable by his pale bald head and white and yellow suit. He believes himself to be "the world's smartest criminal". He was one of the only bad guys smart enough to discover the true identity of Batman.
Egghead's crimes usually have an egg motif to them. His crimes would often focus on obtaining an egg or egg related item. He also included egg-related puns in his speech ("egg-zactly", "egg-cellent", etc.). Additionally, he used a wide assortment of egg-shaped weapons, such as laughing gas eggs and tear gas eggs. He thinks that he has a clever and off-handed sense of humor. Egghead was such a popular villain that it resulted in him appearing in at least nine TV episodes within the series.
