Which British TV series had a secret organisation called "Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation"?
"UFO" is a 1970 British science fiction television series about the ongoing covert efforts of a government defence organisation to prevent an alien invasion of Earth. It was created by Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson with Reg Hill, and produced by the Andersons and Lew Grade's Century 21 for Grade's ITC Entertainment company. It had 26 episodes.
In the year 1969, a group of three outdoor picnickers in the English countryside came under attack from an unknown enemy. One of the picnickers took the time to shoot photographs of whatever had attacked them, but was forced to flee without having a chance to get the photographs developed.
Soon after the attack, having traveled to Great Britain from the United States, Colonel Edward Straker, an American astronaut, met with James Henderson, a British general officer in the British Ministry Of Aviation. Both agree to form a secret organization to defend the planet, that was how Supreme Headquarters of the Alien Defence Organisation, or S.H.A.D.O born.
By 1980, S.H.A.D.O. had a detection satellite in orbit, a submarine (which had a fighter jet), several ground vehicles and a Moonbase with three interceptor spacecraft (the first line of defense).
The Headquarters was concealed beneath Harlington-Straker Film Studios, a motion-picture and television studio based in England and Col. Straker was the Commander in Chief. Col. Alec Freeman was a second on comand. Lt. Gay Ellis Page was a Commander of the Moonbase.
