Which cartoon mascots of a cereal brand have been voiced by Chris Evans, Keith Chegwin and Dino Andrade?
Snap, Crackle and Pop are the cartoon mascots of 'Rice Krispies', a breakfast cereal brand marketed by WK Kellogg Co (formerly Kellogg’s). They were originally designed by illustrator Vernon Grant in the early 1930s and first appeared on the product’s packaging in 1933. The names of the characters are onomatopoeia and were derived from a 'Rice Krispies' radio ad: “Listen to the fairy song of health, the merry chorus sung by Kellogg’s 'Rice Krispies' as they merrily snap, crackle and pop in a bowl of milk. If you’ve never heard food talking, now is your chance”.
The mascots have been voiced by several actors over the years. Snap has been voiced by Daws Butler, Dallas McKennon, Len Dresslar, Don Messick, Phil Vischer, Thom Adcox-Hernandez, Andy Hirsch, Chris Evans and Josh Brener. Crackle has been voiced by Paul Winchell, Dallas McKennon, Frank Welker, Keith Chegwin, Mike Nawrocki, Chad Doreck, Danny Cooksey, and Ben Schwartz. Pop has been voiced by Don Messick, Dallas McKennon, Eddie Deezen, Dino Andrade, Mark Ballou, and Tom Kenny.
The characters are portrayed as gnomes and are usually depicted wearing hats. Snap is usually shown wearing a chef’s toque, Crackle often wears a red (or striped) tomte’s tuque or “sleeping cap,” and Pop often wears a drum major’s shako, but is sometimes also seen with a chef’s toque or an odd combination of both. Snap, the oldest, is a problem solver, Crackle, the middle child, is a jokester, and Pop is a mischievous, clumsy youngster.
