The early 1950s classic U.S. TV comedy which featured appearances from the Nairobi Trio was "The Ernie Kovacs Show". In the show, Kovacs used a routine where he and two other men were in ape suits, and they would mime to a sweet piano tune.

When looking at all of the acts done by Ernie Kovacs, this is probably the one that is his most representative sketch. As it was with a lot of Kovacs's work, it was not exactly funny, just remarkably offbeat. Today, it is recognizable in dozens of routines used by many of the comic descendants of Kovacs.

Kovacs's show, "The Ernie Kovacs Show" was one of only six shows broadcasted on all four U.S. television networks during the 'Golden Age of Television'. The others were: "The Original Amateur Hour", "Pantomime Quiz", "Down You Go", "The Arthur Murray Party", and "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet".
