The population in this country is still growing!

China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country. The total population in China was last recorded at 1374.6 million people in 2015 from 552.0 million in 1950, changing 149 percent during the last 50 years.

Even if China is one of the largest countries in the world by area as well, the Chinese are constantly looking for the ways to restrict the growth of the population. The so-called "one-child" policy, for example, is supported by the majority of the population.

I thought that RPC had rescinded the One Child policy, or at least, relaxed it. They had realised that they now had an inverted demographic triangle, with a decreased number of people trying to support a larger population of now-aging parental units .....

India is nearly three times smaller in area than China anyway.

I loved China and visited many of main attractions, like the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Great Wall and the TerraCotta Army in Xian, etc. The crowds are huge, definitely has pop of 1.39 billion, as of 2018. However, India, which is also worth visiting, I was there 2018, has wonderful sites and sights too, is quickly catching up with pop of 1.35 billion.

China has the highest population at the moment but India will pass in the next ten to fifteen years because of China's restricted population growth.

Brit SilverFox, we were in China last year and our guide told us they have relaxed the policy, but most can’t afford more than one child. Also, the population has moved from rural to urban, so families find they don’t need multiple children when they are no longer working a farm.
