Which country was the world's top coffee producer in 2014?
This country provides the world with delicious coffee! It is unbelievable but in 2014 the country produces more than 2,700,000,000 kg of coffee beans. This shouldn't be surprising, since Brazil has been a leading coffee producer for 100 years!

It's so funny but even though I was born in Jamaica I never drank Blue Mountain Coffee until I came to the US; go figure!

Just a heads up -- I went to Jamaica last winter, and took a horse back tour of the blue mountains. It's a small range (small country) and there are few coffe plantations producing commercial coffee. Over 90 percent of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffe goes to Japan, selling for 60+ dollars a pound. That so called blue mountain Coffe sold in grocery stores is a mixture. Mostly Brazilian bean with a tiny amount of BMC. Just putting that out there. I wish I could of brought more than six pounds back. Five to ten dollars a pound right where it grows!!

Zimbabwe used to export some of the best coffee, but the "agricultural reforms" seem to have destroyed the industry. By breaking up the coffee plantations and giving the land to his followers the government caused large unemployment (coffee workers) and a thriving export market.

It came to Brazil from Ethiopia and flourished here. Today there are many countries who also produce quality coffee, from Kenya to Guatemala to Vietnam.
What I resent is all that quality coffee grown with much work and great care being turned into enormous quantities of horrible instant stuff consumed in the US and Europe
