Which fast food restaurant chain uses the ad slogan "Think outside the bun"?
The fast food restaurant chain Taco Bell has entertained fast-food lovers over many years with its catchy slogans — from “The Cure for the Common Meal” (1986) to “Yo Quiero Taco Bell” (1997) to “Think Outside the Bun" (2002).
Company executives for Taco Bell said that their slogan was a play on the phrase "think outside the box"; they essentially were asking people to be creative and think differently than the norm.
It was noted that as a fast food restaurant, the majority of Taco Bell's competition has been from other fast food restaurants that are generally known for serving hamburgers (McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, etc.). Taco Bell therefore has urged people to "think outside the (hamburger) bun" and try some of their coveted Tex-Mex cuisine.
The “Think Outside the Bun" slogan was used for over 10 years. In 2012, the longest-standing slogan was then replaced with the ad slogan, "Live Mas" ("Live More"). The change was a confusing move for some consumers and company employees. The former ad which had graced commercials and packaging was still very popular. Ideas in the new commercial were hard for some loyal Taco Bell fans to accept.
