Which film has the quote: "Listen to me, mister. You're my knight in shining armor. Don't you forget it."?
Director Mark Rydell's 1981 film "On Golden Pond" has the quote: "Listen to me, mister. You're my knight in shining armor. Don't you forget it." These words are said by Katharine Hepburn as Ethel Thayer to her husband, Norman Thayer Jr. (Henry Fonda).
Norman and Ethel play a sweet old married couple who understand each other completely. Retired university professor Norman has a close, loving relationship with his strong willed wife Ethel. The two begin to truly worry about the threat of death as he begins to struggle with his memory, retention of details, and other health issues.
With the introduction of their estranged daughter Chelsea (Jane Fonda), who resents her father for not offering her much affection as a child, their lives are thrown into turmoil as she announces that she has a fiancé in Bill Ray (Dabney Coleman). She asks them to take in his son Billy Ray (Doug McKeon) for a month while they go to Europe. During the month, Norman bonds with Billy. When Chelsea returns, she finds her father has changed. She has issues with his new attachment to her stepson.
Touching scenes come when the central married couple reaffirm their affections for one another. A man who is so prickly to others is measured and calm with his wife. She loves him. They have a moment and iconic words are said by Ethel to her beloved "Listen to me, mister. You're my knight in shining armor. Don't you forget it."
This film was produced by Bruce Gilbert and written by Ernest Thompson.
