Which film saw Clint Eastwood die from eating poisoned mushrooms?

"The Beguiled" is a 1971 American Southern Gothic film directed by Don Siegel, starring Clint Eastwood and Geraldine Page. The script was written by Albert Maltz and is based on the 1966 novel written by Thomas P. Cullinan, originally titled "A Painted Devil".

An offbeat Civil War drama in which a wounded Yankee soldier, after finding refuge in an isolated girls' school in the South towards the end of the war, becomes the object of the young women's sexual fantasies. The soldier manipulates the situation for his own gratification, but when he refuses to completely comply with the girls' wishes, they make it very difficult for him to leave.

As Union troops camp within sight of the school the women decide to kill him to prevent him from denouncing them to the Union troops. He is given poisonous mushrooms to eat and leaves the dining room disoriented, and collapses in the hallway. The following day, the women sew his corpse into a burial shroud and carry him out of the gate to bury. They all agree to claim he died of exhaustion.

Stevie G, The two films are The Beguiled from 1971 with Clint Eastwood in the lead role and the second is The Beguiled from 2017 without Eastwood. Both films are loosely based on a 1966 Civil War novel with the same title. I understand your point and admit that this type of question can be seen as separating the grain from the chaff. My point is that more members are likely to be familiar with the second version because it is so recent and immediately dismiss it as an option since they knew that Eastwood was not in it . This is, I believe, at least the 3rd time that the Dude has used the “Same Movie Title” gambit, recently reaching back into the silent movie era for the matching title. I can’t recall your ever having done so. I may be wrong about that. I’ve only been involved in QC for two years. Perhaps this is just clever question construction and is to be admired. I got it right but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Thanks for asking.

I saw the original movie...all I can say is OMG. From time to time, mushrooms grow in our yard. Since I love mushrooms, my husband is always telling go eat those.Nope, not going to end up like Clint .
