Mad Max: Fury Road is a 2015 action film directed and produced by George Miller, and written by Miller, Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. The fourth instalment in the Mad Max franchise, it is an Australian and American venture produced by Kennedy Miller Mitchell, RatPac-Dune Entertainment and Village Roadshow Pictures.

The film was ranked by many critics as the best film of 2015, as well as one of the greatest action films ever made; acclaim went to its screenplay, action sequences, art direction, and performances of the ensemble cast.

In 2016 Fury Road won multiple critical and guild awards. It received ten Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and Best Director for George Miller. It won six: Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing. Fury Road won the most Oscars in the 88th Academy Awards in 2016.

The Revenant won the awards for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematography at the 2016 Academy Awards.

Spotlight won the Academy Award for Best Picture along with Best Original Screenplay from six nominations in total.

Room was nominated for three Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. It only won one award for Best Actress.

As you all know, my nom de plumb is “filmnut 1907”. I love movies and have since early childhood. I’ll be 73 yrs. old in July. The “Mad Max Films have had a ‘cult’ following since 1979, when “Mad Max” was released. At about the same time one of the best “Sifi - Horror Classics ‘Alien’ 1979 was released” both these films have never received the “Accolades” they deserve. It’s too bad the people who write, produce and act in Film have such poor taste.

DannyBoy, you're not wrong in your opinion The Reverent is possibly the only movie in the list that deserved one. The best movies usually fall through the cracks in the award system. Has been that way for a very long time. Sad

filmnut, As far as I'm concerned if a film is loaded with video and audio special affect, then it is not oscar-worthy. I think a film should be able to stand on its own. Although I think there should be some kind of award for the video and audio effects. Just my opinion.
