Which food is often thrown over the bride and groom at weddings?
Throwing rice at weddings has been a wedding tradition for a long, long time. And despite a rumor that rice is harmful to birds, this wedding tradition has a continued presence in many modern weddings.
It's widely believed the throwing rice at weddings origin comes from ancient Romans, but instead of throwing rice, Roman wedding guests tossed wheat or oat. In ancient Rome, wheat and oat nourished the Roman people, which eventually led to these grains being associated with prosperity, birth and new life. So by tossing wheat or oat at the newlyweds, the guests are symbolically showering the couple with good wishes for a prosperous new life together.

It is not a rumor - rice grains are quite small when dry, but expand to several times their size in a warm, moist environment, like a bird's stomach. More than a few grains would cause severe distress in any bird who ate them.

I think it would be very interesting to throw apples over (at) the bride and groom. Maybe apple sauce instead.

At a recent wedding, bird seeds were requested! I was very tempted to choose the pasta though, imagining it with spaghetti sauce. Just kidding!!!

Throwing Apples would be healthy but really hurt if it hits the heads OUCH! Throwing money is probably the best thing to throw at newly weds.
