Which is the motto on the Coat of Arms of the state of New South Wales, Australia?
The official coat of arms of the Australian state of New South Wales was granted by royal warrant of King Edward VII dated 11 October 1906. Its name is abbreviated as "NSW".
The motto of NSW is written in Latin: “Orta recens quam pura nites”. It may be translated as “Newly risen how brightly you shine” and, like the rising sun in the crest, is representative of Australia’s continuing progress and development.
NSW, is a state of southeastern Australia, occupying both coastal mountains and interior tablelands. It is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the east and the states of Victoria to the south, South Australia to the west, and Queensland to the north. NSW also includes Lord Howe Island, 360 m (580 km) east of the continent.
The state capital is Sydney, the country’s largest city, located on the east coast adjoining the Pacific Ocean. Its area is 309,130 sq m (800,642 sq km). The population of NSW (as of 2016) was 7,480,228, which makes it the most populous state in Australia.
Although it is by no means the largest Australian state in area, NSW has the largest economy and, in its demographic, political, and economic variety, constitutes a microcosm of Australia as a whole.
Australia is a constitutional monarchy. Queen Elizabeth II is the current Monarch and Australia is part of the Commonwealth.
