Mawsynram, Meghalaya, India is a place which receives 11,873 mm of rainfall every year. It makes Mawsynram the wettest place on our planet, which is officially fixed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Mawsynram is located in the Indian state of Meghalaya, the name of which means "land of the clouds". Even if the place is quite wet the year round, most rains occur there during the season of monsoons, which is considered long here: it starts with the beginning of summer and ends in early September. The whole state of Meghalaya is quite rainy, and the second wettest place (Cherrapunji) is also located there. Anyway, the climate is still changeable, and outside the monsoon season droughts may appear in Meghalaya.
