The big hit Motown song which was used as the opening theme to the U.S. TV war drama "China Beach" was the 1967 song 'Reflections' by Diana Ross & the Supremes. The song was written and produced by Motown's main production team Holland–Dozier–Holland (H–D–H).

The song 'Reflections' was used as the title sequence theme song for almost all of the episodes in the show. A different song was used for only several episodes instead of 'Reflections'. The other song that was used was 'We Gotta Get out of This Place' by Eric Burdon with Katrina & The Waves. It was used on Season 3 of "China Beach" in 1990.

As a footnote, 'Reflections' was the first record by the music group (The Supremes) which was released under the new billing, Diana Ross & the Supremes.
