Which of the 50 U.S. states has the greatest population density by square mile?

After living most of my life there that one was easy.

I chose NY bit that of course was wrong..

New Jersey is the only state with absolutely no unorganized land. Every square inch is part of some township, borough or some other organized territory.

Richard D. Boyle, because the Founding fathers were afraid that, if the national capitol was placed within any one state, the government would come to pass laws favorable to that state over all the others. Therefore, they established a national district outside the states to be the seat of government. Virginia and Maryland both voluntarily gave up some land for this , since it was more or less centrally located in the states, which were all along the Atlantic coast at the time. Virginia later took back its share, leaving the District of Columbia with its current boundaries. Washington, D.C. does have a representative in the House, but it's a non-voting position.

DC has nearly 12,000 citizens per square mile, more than 10 times greater than New Jersey and FAR greater than any other state, but it has no representation in either house of Congress. Why do you suppose that is?
