After Latka Gravas (Andy Kaufman) transforms and gets stuck as Vic Ferrai, he shows up to the taxi garage as a smug, cheesy, playboy jerk. Vic creates a suave but obnoxious alter ego for Latka; it is one that may help Latka as Vic score with the ladies. However, nobody likes his new persona, and Alex Reiger (Judd Hirsch) tries to convince him to bring back the old Latka Gravas.

This 1978 - 1983 TV sitcom "Taxi" followed the life of a group of cabbies in New York City, NY. The group were employees of the Sunshine Cab Company, and they made up a motley crew which included: Bobby (Jeff Conaway), a frustrated actor, Tony (Tony Danza), a struggling boxer, Louie (Danny DeVito), the tyranical dispatcher, and Reverend Jim (Christopher Lloyd), a spacey ex-hippie. Latka is an immigrant from a strange foreign land; he is a mechanic who keeps the taxis running.

The hard working and funny ensemble of people performing on the sitcom was often hailed by critics, audiences, and other well known actors/actresses. After the show's premier on ABC in 1978, it was called a show with 'great heart', as well as great humor. While on the air, it was able to win three straight TV Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series.
