Which of the following African countries is landlocked?
Considering Nigeria, Ethiopia, Somalia and Morocco, the only landlocked country is Ethiopia. Nigeria borders the Atlantic Ocean, Somalia borders the Indian Ocean and Morocco borders both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. Ethiopia, on the other hand, is surrounded by Eritrea to the north, Djibouti to the northeast, Somalia to the east, Kenya to the south, and South Sudan and Sudan to the west.
There are 16 landlocked countries on the African continent, but Ethiopia only became one in 1993 after giving up the possession of Eritrea, which borders the Red Sea.
Known as the "Land of Origins," Ethiopia is the second-most populated nation in Africa, with over 80 different ethnic groups. Its capital, Addis Ababa, is a significant place of trade and politics because many African organizations are based in the city.
Ethiopia, along with Liberia, remained one of two countries to successfully resist colonisation. In 1923, Ethiopia joined the League of Nations, making it the first African nation to do so. Ethiopia has a successful coffee trade and is the 5th largest producer of coffee in the world and the largest in Africa.
