The European microstates or European ministates are a set of very small sovereign states in Europe. The term is typically used to refer to the six smallest states in Europe by area: Andorra, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City.

The microstates are less than 200 square miles (517 square kilometres) with the largest being Andorra with an area of 181 square miles (468 square kilometres) while the Vatican is the smallest with an area of 0.2 square miles (0,5 square kilometres) .
