Donna - I’m an Army vet myself - RVN ‘70-‘71. HOWEVER To say that our Coast Guard doesn’t count is unpatriotic. They guarded the coast of Vietnam as well as our coast during the VN war as they do now - daily. We lost 9 Coasties during that conflict and 59 were wounded. Today they are our first line of defense along the coasts against the drug running cartels and the fight against the opoid problems. I, for one, stand proud with my Coast Guard brothers and sisters. They are an integral part of our modern military - We are very much indebted to their service.

I've been doing some genealogical research and I have ancestors from the Revolutionary war, civil war, both WWs, the Korean war and Nam!

Marines, as a military entity, go back as far as the Peloponnesian War. Both then and now, they serve as the infantry component of a naval force.
I guess you mean "cavalry" in your statement. Mounted soldiers as a fast-moving shock element are part of an army and not a separate military organization.

I think everyone should know that.....they fight for our country everyday. Along with the other branches. But the Army is what started the fight for our freedom.
