Th Mayberry resident on the U.S. TV sitcom "The Andy Griffith Show" who used the exclamation "Shazam!" was Gomer Pyle. During the middle of the third season of "The Andy Griffith Show", Gomer Pyle as played by Jim Nabors was introduced as a character on the show.

Pyle had a good nature as a naïve single man with a high tenor speaking voice that came from Mayberry, NC. He was the only apparent employee who worked at Wally's Filling Station. He initially lived there in a back room. He had told Andy that he was saving his money for college; he wanted to be a doctor.

He usually wore a service station uniform and a baseball cap with an upturned bill. He often let a handkerchief dangle from his back pocket. Wide-eyed and slack jawed, he initially displayed scant knowledge of how automobiles worked. When the sheriff had many other things to do, Gomer would be deputized and asked to work with Deputy Barney Fife.

While Gomer would work and deal with others, he would provide some needed comic relief on the show. This is when he would be awestruck by the simplest of things, resulting with him using such niffy and handy catchphrase exclamations as 'Shazam!', 'Gawwww-leeeee', 'Sur-prise, sur-prise, sur-prise!', and 'shame, shame, shame!', as appropriate.
