Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965) was a British statesman, army officer, and writer. He was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, when he led the country to victory in the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955. Apart from two years between 1922 and 1924, Churchill was a Member of Parliament (MP) from 1900 to 1964 and represented a total of five constituencies. Ideologically an economic liberal and imperialist, he was for most of his career a member of the Conservative Party, as a leader from 1940 to 1955. He was never Foreign Secretary.

Anthony Eden (1897 - 1977) was Foreign Secretary from December 1935 until February 1938 and was again appointed to this post from December 1940 until July 1945 and for a third time from October 1951 until April 1955.

Harold Macmillan (1894 - 1986) was Foreign Secretary from April 1955 until December 1955.

Alec Douglas-Home (1903 - 1995) was Foreign Secretary from July 1960 until October 1963.

As of July 2020, the current Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs is Dominic Raab, MP. since his appointment by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in July 2019.
